Jayden and Murray thought financial planning was only for the wealthy, until they met Kurt. With no judgement and lots of support, they’re now saving smart, investing wisely, and feeling genuinely seen and supported along the way.
Well, to be honest with you, before I came or saw a financial planner, I had no idea what they did!
My first thoughts were just like, “Oh, you know, they plan your finances,” but I didn’t really know in-depth what that looked like. I’m not that versed in finance at all, really.
But thank God I’ve got this one.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I know we sort of looked at investing options later on down the track, but I didn’t really know much more than that on the financial planning side.
What surprised me is the amount of time and the caringness.
Like, we by no means are wealthy people. We don’t have lots of money—we’re young, we’re like 25. We’re planning on our first house, we’re saving up, we’re in debt. We’ve got no plethora of money to seem like a valuable client.
But I was treated just...I felt like I was treated just like the next millionaire. And I guess that made me feel good.
I’ve always been a little bit embarrassed about our position. When we were younger, we just… you know how it is. We got personal loans, and this and that. And yeah, when we met with Kurt and Rachael, they didn’t make us feel embarrassed about our debts.
It’s worth having the conversation. After the conversation, you understand where you’re at now, where you could be—and then decide if it’s for you after that.
I think for us, we’re looking at alternative investing options. Yes, we’re still at a life stage where we’re looking at buying a house later on—but in the meantime, until we do that, what other options do we have to make our money work better for us?
That’s probably my biggest thing. I’ve always thought: surely there’s more to life at this stage than saving up for a house.
In this day and age, surely there’s more than just buying a house as step one. Are there stock options, bonds, or something else? Is there a better idea? Or do you do both?
These are things that people our age don’t think about. It’s always about that first house.
It’s just comforting.
They make me feel important. They make us feel important.
You’re given a great experience—where you sit down, talk it all out. What are your concerns? What are your goals? All of that.
And then, okay—let’s sit down and work out how we can try and make those goals a reality.
I know when Jayden started his business, I flicked an email through just to say, “Hey, will we be able to get some time to sit down and discuss it?”
I think I sent it at 8 o’clock at night, and I got a response by 9 o’clock the next morning: “Yep, here’s a booking link, let’s go.”
Then Kurt stayed back after work because we support weird hours.
Kurt and Rachael have always come to our house as well. It’s always—
You feel like they try to accommodate as much as they can to your circumstances.
